Don’t miss this last chance to have a transformative sound experience inside INDUCTION. Tauba Auerbach joins experimental band Zs for this unique, in-gallery concert.

INDUCTION is a collaboration between artist Tauba Auerbach and composer Éliane Radigue. This immersive experience pairs Auerbach's paintings, glass sculptures, and new video works with a seminal sound installation from Radigue. Together these works explore how vibration and flow can induce states of consciousness. 

LIGATURE, Zs' newest work, realized in collaboration with Auerbach and Paris, is a sound and projection based performance installation that draws on the calligraphy practice of Auerbach both sonically and visually. Amplified and surveiled markers lend form and content to sonic and visual environments realized by Zs, Auerbach, and Paris. 

Based in Brooklyn, NY, Zs (Michael Beharie, Sam Hillmer, Patrick Higgins, and Greg Fox) blend saxophone, drums, guitar, and electronics to produce a sound that, as the band says, “challenges the physical and mental limitations of both performer and listener.” Their music “envelops the listener and unfolds sonically over time, evoking unspoken past, present, and future rites and ritual.”

Tauba Auerbach (1981, San Francisco, CA) lives and works in New York. She holds a BA in Visual Art from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California (2003). In 2013 she founded Diagonal Press, formalizing her ongoing publishing practice. Recent solo shows include Diagonal Press, Bard College, New York (2017); Tauba Auerbach: Projective Instrument, Paula Cooper Gallery, New York (2016); and Tauba Auerbach: The New Ambidextrous Universe, Institute of Contemporary Arts, London (2014). A major solo exhibition of Auerbach’s work was organized by Bergen Kunsthall, Norway (2011), which was titled Tetrachromat and traveled to Malmö Konsthall, Sweden (2012), and Wiels Contemporary Art Centre, Brussels (2013). Her work has been featured in group exhibitions at The Kitchen, New York (2016); Kunstmuseum Bonn, Germany (2015–16); Musée d’art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (2014); The Museum of Modern Art, New York (2012 and 2013); Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (2013); Auerbach has also participated in the Whitney Biennial, New York (2010) and the New Museum Triennial, New York (2009). She was the recipient of the Eureka Fellowship, The Fleischhacker Foundation (2008); SECA Art Award, SFMOMA (2008); and a Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship (2011). She is represented by Paula Cooper Gallery, New York, and STANDARD, Oslo, Norway.

Laura Paris is a founding member of the art duo Trouble and co-founded the Coalition for Hispanic Family Services' Arts and Literacy After School and Summer Program in Bushwick. Laura is active as a sculptor, painter, projectionist, and installation artist. Paris is known for work challenging architectural spaces for performance and social ritual, and performances that stretch performer and audience endurance and capacity for attention. Recently she has shown/performed at the Queens Museum of Art, White Chapel Gallery (London), EMPAC, Pioneer Works, and VACANT Gallery (Japan).
